Winter 2020/2021 Update

During the winter – this year especially – we often yearn for the fun times we spend on our region’s waterways during the warmer months.  As we await the arrival of spring, we invite you to explore this gallery of photographs by Jeanne Wiebenga which features some of the waterways within our watershed. Jeanne will be collaborating with other photographers and area naturalists in 2021 on a project that will showcase the biological diversity – birds in particular – that call our watershed home. Stay tuned for updates on this project.

We at the Chautauqua-Conewango Consortium know that our actions affect the health of our waterways. As an affiliate of the international Waterkeeper organization, we believe that our regions freshwater resources should be safe for drinking, fishing, and swimming. This is why we recently released an official statement voicing our position on the use of herbicides within in our watershed. To learn more, please read our Submersed Aquatic Vegetation Herbicide Position Statement.  As you will see, several organizations and individuals have already added their support.

The Consortium is a committee of the Conewango Creek Watershed Association, a 501c3 non-profit organization. We rely solely on the support of our members to fund our important work, and contributions to our cause are 100% tax deductible. When you become a member, you will join hundreds of residents in western New York and Pennsylvania (as well as vacation homeowners from all over the country) who support the CCC’s stewardship of the Conewango watershed’s waters. If you are already a member, please invite others who are passionate about protecting our freshwater resources to join us. Thank you.
